Overview

The Dart team invites you to Happy Hour, the first global Dart hackathon. Be part of the next evolution of web programming. Make an impact by hacking on Dart and sharing your feedback. Real life Dart engineers will be on hand to help and are eager to learn from you.

There will be a fun prize awarded to the team that demonstrates the best technical achievement. As a special bonus, the winning team will have a chance to meet the Dart team via a Google+ Hangout.

What is Dart?

Dart is structured web programming for the entire modern web. Like a good draught, Dart is fresh yet familiar, with unique touches that help create a delightful new experience for aficionados of software development. Dart delivers a smooth pour of a new language, libraries, virtual machine, and compilation to modern JavaScript. Dart will make web development crisp and refreshing again.

Schedule
  
FRI 19:00 - 20:00 - Orientation and Kickoff
  • Welcome video 
  • General guidelines for the event: schedule, wifi password, GitHub repo etc’.
  • Intro to Dart by Dart engineer(s)
FRI 20:00 - 20:30 - Team pitches
  • Each team will quickly present their demo idea and solicit new team members.
  • The hackathon will be team based, but since not everyone will come with a team, this portion of the event allows each team to take 60 seconds to pitch their idea and solicit team members.
FRI 20:30 - Hacking 
  • It will be an 'open bar' style so people can come and go as they wish during the evening.
  • Light snacks and drinks will be available.
  • Venue open all night if you're feeling up to it!
SAT 8.00 - 17:00 - Hacking 
  • Continued 'open bar' style hacking all day until 17:00.
  • Light breakfast from 8.00-9.30.
  • Lunch at 12:00.
SAT 17:00 - 18:00 - Demos 
  • Each team will demo their hacks for the group and judges.
  • Each team has 3 minutes to show off what they built. 
  • The judges may take another 1-3 minutes to ask questions.
SAT 18:00 - Prizes 
  • The event coordinators and judges will choose the winning team based on the best technical achievement.
All participants are expected and required to bring their own laptops and power cords. The location/venue will provide WiFi and 'some' power outlets.
